New Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Collection

*Press Sample*

Today I have three polishes from an upcoming collection from Sally Hansen to show you! These three polishes are from the Insta-Dri line and just happen to be perfect for my theme of patriotic polishes this week! All of these polishes are limited edition, and there's a great selection of colors in this collection. I'll let you know the descriptions of the other three in the collection at the end of the post.

First up is Quick Brick. Sally Hansen's description is "Take your nails from naked to a true cherry in as little as 60 seconds!" This is a very nice creme polish that is opaque in two coats for me. It was almost opaque in one, but there were a few uneven spots that were taken care of with the second coat. I did do a coat of topcoat on all of my swatches.

The next polish is Tag, Ur It. This is a white creme polish that you've already seen me use once before. I used it in this manicure, where I stamped with it. It stamped well for me. I've heard that quite a few of the Insta-Dri polishes are good for stamping, and since they're in the drugstore, they're easily accessible as well! Sally Hansen describes this as a "boldly opaque white" that is "crisp, clean and totally cool." I had some problems with the formula of this one. It didn't level out as much as I would've liked, but topcoat solved that problem. This is two coats of Tag, Ur It.

The last polish I was sent to review is Vandal Eyes and it is my favorite. Sally Hansen describes it as "the color of the sky on a sunny, cloudless day." It is a beautiful sky blue shade with subtle shimmer. This one was the sheerest for me. I did three coats with topcoat for this swatch. I used Vandal Eyes in my KBShimmer manicure that you can see here if you missed it. For that manicure I used two coats of Vandal Eyes under the glitter topper.

The three colors I don't have to show you today are:

Street Cred - Paint on this cool toned electric pink for serious urban style.

Color Me Good - Looking to make your mark? Let this bold sea foam green be your signature mani.

City Slicker - An intense, glossy amethyst that's polished - but decidedly downtown to the core.

The only issue I have with these polishes has nothing to do with the polishes themselves, and it's definitely a personal problem. The brush on these polishes is very wide. Most people love wider brushes because you can get the color on with less strokes. This one is so wide that it is actually bigger than my pinky nail (keep in mind that I have small nails - I don't think the majority of people would have this problem), which caused a bit of flooding to my cuticles. It just isn't the best brush for me.

These polishes have great color payoff, are opaque in two to three coats (if you're using them as a base for a glitter topper you could probably get away with one coat), and dry very quickly. I would recommend them, especially Vandal Eyes! It's such a pretty color. I'm interested to see the other three colors in person - they sound perfect for Summer!

This collection will be available beginning July 2015 at chain drugstores and mass retailers nationwide with a suggested retail price of $4.99. Are there any that spark your interest? I'd love to hear which one is your favorite in the comments below!

*These polishes were sent to me for review. My opinions are 100% honest and my own. Receiving polish for review does not affect how I feel about a polish.*

  1. I love all of these, especially the red! Too bad for me, but drugstore limited edition polishes are very difficult for me to get since the nearest drugstore with limited edition displays is 40 miles from me. Boo!

    1. I'm curious about that shade too. I love blue and green polish so that one sounds like it's right up my alley!

  5. Lovely swatches!! I don't like the Insta-dry for the same reason you don't, I hate their brushes!! Although I have tried the brushes from the complete salon manicure line and while they're still pretty wide, I don't think they're as wide. That blue color is really pretty though. :)

    1. Thank you!! I know there are so many people that love the Insta-Dri brushes because they're so wide but it's definitely not for me. I really do love the blue though and will wear it again despite the brush - it's such a nice shade!

    1. I was just recently thinking about that! I rarely go to Sally's or Ulta anymore to look at the polish. I buy almost everything from Indies online. There's just so much more to choose from!

  7. Great swatches!! I wish SH would come out with a different polish rather than a white each year but that's just me!

    1. Thank you! I actually don't have any other white SH's in my collection, so this one is a welcome addition. But, yeah, one every year probably isn't necessary.
